Arms control

Arms control measures range from restricting the future growth in the number, types, or deployment of weapons; through the reduction of weapons; to the elimination of some types of (or even all) weapons on a global or regional basis.

Threat Resolution Ltd (TRLtd) is experienced in the research of arms control issues and assisting governments and international organisations in designing regulatory measures.

These measures include the development of national policy making and practical control methodologies some examples of which are:

• Facilitating primary national level exposure on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) issues through the dissemination of information as well as education at all levels.
• Initiating and the adoption a national strategy, which addresses arms control issues at national and regional (cooperation) levels.
• The creation and maintenance of a situation and environment throughout the country in which the population has confidence in the government’s capability to protect its citizens.
• Legislative processes.
• Programmes for the collection and destruction of surplus and illegal weapons.
