The deployment of drones to capture aerial imagery and intelligence have an ever-increasing range of applications, which are evolving due to new technology or change in regulation. The application of drone solutions is relevant to a very wide range of industries.
Listed below is a typical, but not exhaustive range of services that we provide.

By sending a UAV into a situation that would be dangerous for a person, like a tall building or up a cell phone tower, inspectors are able to collect visual data about the condition of an asset without having to expose themselves to potential harm.

Clearly, drone inspections do not require the use of ladders, scaffolding or lifts and take a few minutes to plan and get into the air. When time is of the essence, a drone inspection is the most effective solution.


We can provide your engineer with a virtual reality headset that enables her or him to control the camera gimbal with head movements while our remote pilot flies the aircraft. 


High resolution still images and videography are provided post-post-inspection analysis.


Thermography is the translation of thermal energy (heat) into visible light in order to analyse a particular object or scene. An aerial thermographer uses a thermal camera to measure that translation as it's happening. 

Drones with thermographic-capable cameras  enable the examination of areas which cannot be accessed by people or other means of inspection.


Applications for drone thermography include powerline and solar panels inspections as well as building Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) and HAZMAT inspections. 

The use of FLIR technology is especially useful to Search and Rescue (SAR) operations at night.



Agriculture is one of the fastest-growing markets in the commercial drone industry today. And UAVs are quickly becoming an indispensable tool to help clients become more efficient in the field, and make more informed crop management decisions.

The Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is a simple graphical indicator that can be used to analyse remote sensing measurements to assess the level of live green vegetation. NVDI is a spectral calculation of two or more bands of light that highlights vegetative properties. In a field of crops, it allows the viewer to make comparisons of the photosynthetic activity across the area of interest.

A vegetative index can aid farmers, agronomists, crop insurers, researchers or other agriculture industry professionals in analysing trends in plant health.

3D Modelling

Drone 3D Modeling is important to our clients as the output model can visualise the building before they start the projects. Drones enable us to capture the details, intricacies, and beauty of a structure not easily seen from the ground level.

By deploying aircraft with  Real-Time Kinematics (RTK), accuracy is assured.

Survey / Mapping

At Terra Recon, we conduct all of our mapping operations using autonomous flights to ensure that we gather the most accurate data. 2D mapping is perhaps the simplest of aerial data acquisition operations but every client’s needs are different, and we always strive to meet or exceed expectations.

Depending on the client’s requirements, we can map to an amazing accuracy of 1-2cm using Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) enabled aircraft. 

Our aircrafts 1” CMOS sensor cameras capture numerous images, normally from different orientations with an 80% overlap, which are used to create a single orthomosaic image that is georeferenced.  

Such images can be imported into CAD software or overlaid in applications such as Google Earth.


In military operations, reconnaissance or scouting is the exploration outside an occupied area to identify terrain characteristics, obstacles to movement and the location of enemy forces and civilian population.

Reconnaissance provides forward intelligence. It is a useful tool in a remote or hostile environment in that it identifies hazards and threats ahead, reducing risks and minimising time on the ground. 


Areas can be mapped in real-time if required and distributed to mobile devices.

Apart from expeditionary works, Search and Rescue (SAR) is perhaps the most obvious application in this context.


Security patrols by camera drones can be achieved on a much more frequent and covert basis than in vehicles or fon oot, especially over difficult terrain.

Long, linear assets such as pipelines and power lines are more effectively covered from the air than on the ground.

UAVs provide the ideal solution to the problems and limitations faced by other surveillance methods. Drone surveillance presents an easier, faster, and cheaper method of data collection and have a number of other key advantages. Our drones are equipped with FLIR thermal sensors, allowing them to operate covertly at night if required.

Suspect intruders can be observed from a distance and followed until the arrival of ground forces.
